Are Low Ink Warnings on Printers Accurate?Printer manufacturers today are making it easier and easier to determine how much ink is left in your inkjet cartridge. Some remind you when you are getting low, and others give you specifics: letting you know you have 20% or even 10% left. Some printer manufacturers use smart chip technology to force you to put in a replacement inkjet cartridge when ink drops to a certain level. While some manufacturers provide print yield estimates to their customers, they are often tight lipped about how much ink remains in the cartridge when the warning message displays.

What are the most commom tips to work with Laser Printers and Laser Toner Cartridges? How do I get printer ink off my clothes? Today's injket cartridges are designed to be as mess-free as possible, yet sometimes it still happens that changing printer cartridges means getting ink on you or your garments. To preserve your business clothing -- and your temper -- try this: First blot the inkjet toner stain with a DRY cloth or paper towel. Don't rub it back and forth -- this will spread the ink. Just dab at it and remove as much as you can. Then get a fresh cloth or towel and rub club soda (or water, but the bubbles work better) on the stain. Do this as soon as possible after the printer toner spill occurs, then wash or dry-clean as soon as possible. How do I get print toner out of my carpet? Avoid treating a toner stain with water, as this will spread the ink further. Instead, use a good vacuum cleaner or shop vac to get rid of as much print toner as possible, then flood the stain with club soda to dilute it as much as possible, and use a shop vac to remove excess liquid. Use a fan to help the spot dry faster and prevent moisture problems. What are some ideas for making my ink supply last longer? If you're using too much copier toner or inkjet ink, change your computer's settings to print in "Draft" mode for internal documents, and use better print settings only for customer-facing documents or final versions, and save color printing for these uses as well. What should I do if the nozzle on my printer is blocked and won't print? Occasionally, the print nozzle on your inkjet printer may become blocked with dried ink, particularly if you have not used your printer in days or weeks. Remove the nozzle from the printer and place it in a shallow dish of warm water. Soak it until the ink loosens, then dry it with a soft cloth and set it back into place. Run your print head cleaning cycle (instructions for this should be in your printer manual). If it still doesn't work, you will have to replace the cartridge.

Popular Trouble Shooting for laser Printers:What are some general printer troubleshooting tips for non-techies? Before you send your printer off to a service technician, make sure you have covered all of the obvious bases. The reason your IT guy always tells you to “turn the printer on and off” before he will come to your office to troubleshoot your printer problem is because people get in a hurry and don’t do the obvious. Even non-techies can take steps to diagnose and fix their own printer problems. Below are the top ten things to do before taking your printer in for service: 1. Make sure your printer has power. 2. Verify that the printer is turned on. 3. Inspect the cables and make sure they are firmly connected. 4. Replace the ink or toner cartridges. 5. Check for paper. 6. Look for paper jams by opening the cover and removing all of the paper trays. 7. Utilize your printer’s self-test. 8. Read the book that comes with your printer. 9. Find specific troubleshooting information on the manufacturer’s website. 10. If all of the above fails, turning the printer off and on again can solve a multitude of problems.

Some Laser Toner Tips:Should I replace my toner cartridge if my printer prints vertical black lines and smudges on my documents? A laser toner cartridge is responsible for supporting many printer functions. For example, the laser toner cartridge Brother 7820n supports printing for the All-In-One printer, scanner, fax and copier. When a cartridge goes bad, all of those functions cease to exist! And nothing is more frustrating than finding vertical black lines and smudges on your documents during a busy work day. But before you throw out the toner cartridge, be sure that the cartridge is really the problem. It may be that the fusing assembly in the printer is defective. Print smears if the fusing assembly is not heated sufficiently to bond the toner image to the paper. So be sure to check your toner cartridge by removing it, turning it over, and pulling back the shutter until you see the photosensitive drum (which looks like a long cylinder). If you can see lines around the middle of the drum, it has been scratched, and it should be replaced. Take a couple minutes to diagnose the problem before you decide a cartridge is defective. How can I get more money from my toner cartridge? Printer toner cartridges aren’t cheap so learning a few tips on how to get the most value from your printer cartridge is worthwhile: 1. Keep your cartridge at room temperature at all times. Leaving a cartridge in the trunk of your car in extreme hot or cold weather will damage it. 2. Do not attempt to open the plastic casing around the cartridge. There is nothing you can do to repair a faulty cartridge by opening it. 3. Always keep the original bag and box your cartridge is in so you can use them to store and return the cartridge when it is empty. 4. Do not expose your cartridge to excessive light which will damage some of the components. 5. When your cartridge is empty, do not let it sit for long periods of time before refilling it. Keeping these tips in mind will help you get the most money for your printer toner cartridge.
